Churches that Care
Meeting the needs of our neighbors
Catholic Charities of North Louisiana serves 2,600 people regardless of their faith each year. A majority of those families come to us for help with their rent or utility bills. Funding for our emergency assistance program directly affects how many people we are able to help. While funding for emergency assistance is decreasing, prices for basic needs are increasing. More families are facing homelessness or having their utilities cut off.
As government funding for this assistance has dwindled, local partners have stepped up to help fill this gap by becoming Churches that Care.
Our Churches that Care give to our emergency assistance fund, and in turn, Catholic Charities becomes their official referral partner for rent- or utility-related benevolence requests they receive. This ensures that we are able to serve more families and families who may be just outside of our government sources strict eligibility. Thanks to these partners, more families avoid eviction and homelessness or cut-off utilities.
