GET DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE

The City of Shreveport Department of Community Development’s Homebuyer’s Assistance Program Participation Initiative (HAPPI) is designed to assist first-time homebuyers with purchasing their home. If you meet the requirements below, you may be eligible for up to $10,000 in down payment, buy down, and closing cost assistance.

The City of Shreveport and Catholic Charities partner together to ensure that those eligible for the HAPPI program are able to participate and receive assistance to purchase their first home.

How to Qualify

Your income must be 80% or below the area median income as determined by HUD. Not sure if you meet the requirement? Give us a call or see the chart below!
You must be a first-time homebuyer.
- Anyone who has not owned or been on the title of a home in the past three years
- If you inherited a home, you may still qualify.
You must purchase a home in a HAPPI neighborhood to use as your primary residence. Click here to view which neighborhoods are included in the HAPPI program.

Meet with one of our HUD-certified housing counselors, who can help you get your credit, debt, and income ready to qualify for a mortgage.
Complete an approved homebuyer education class and earn a 1-year certificate for this and other homebuyer programs. See our schedule below!
