FINANCIAL SERVICES
Building strong foundations in our community.
We assist low-income families with emergency rent and utility assistance each week. Individuals seeking assistance must pre-qualify, attend a financial education class, and pay a portion of what is owed.
Pre-qualification screenings begin Mondays at 8:30 a.m. until our class is full.
The FEC provides free, one-on-one financial counseling to anyone 18+. Our professionally trained financial counselors can assist individuals with financial goals pertaining to credit, savings, debt, banking, legacy planning and student loans.
Community members can access the service as many times as they’d like to meet their financial goals.
We provide HUD-certified, free First-Time Homebuyers Classes each month. Our class consists of four two-hour sessions held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Those who complete the class may qualify for down-payment assistance programs such as HAPPI, administered by Catholic Charities in partnership with the City of Shreveport.
Because of the large need, households may only receive assistance once every 24 months. This allows us to serve more families in our community through education and assistance.
There are no income or geographic restrictions to enroll in financial counseling. Participants must be 18+.
First-time homebuyer’s are any individuals purchasing their first home or who have not been on a home’s title in over 3 years.
